Shubuta, Mississippi — Michael A. Chiaradio, founder of the Center Solutions Party (CSP), is calling for a fundamental shift in how the United States utilizes its vast federal lands.
His plan proposes an innovative, cost-effective way to regenerate degraded soil, expand opportunities for small farmers, and position the nation as the world’s leader in sustainable food production—all while maintaining the economic benefits of large-scale agriculture and strengthening global trade partnerships.
“Americans are so disconnected from their food sources that we’ve basically ignored one of our greatest competitive advantages,” Chiaradio stated. “We have the potential to produce enough healthy food to feed the entire world.”
Chiaradio’s plan aims to restore productivity to sections of federally owned lands that are currently considered unsuitable for conventional farming. By introducing regenerative agriculture techniques, such as rotational grazing and holistic land management, these lands can be transformed into thriving ecosystems that enhance soil health, support biodiversity, and produce high-quality food at minimal cost.
Keeping Big Agriculture While Opening Doors for Small Farmers
Chiaradio rejects the false choice between supporting large-scale agriculture and empowering small farmers. His plan keeps major producers in place to maintain economies of scale for exports, while also carving out space for small farmers to thrive.
He believes modern technology and automation will make viable small farms necessary again for individuals and families, creating new jobs and revitalizing rural communities.
“At one point in history, it made sense to move people away from farming. But with today’s advancements, we can — and should — start bringing it back as a real career path. Farming isn’t just about food and environmentalism, it’s about economic independence and national security,” said Chiaradio.
A key difference in Chiaradio’s approach is the idea that removing human activity altogether is not the best way to protect the environment. “Many assume that leaving land untouched is the best way to preserve it, but that’s really not true. Yes, humans have done incredible damage, but when we manage land responsibly, we can actually make the earth better,” he said. “The Native Americans understood this — they actively shaped the land and improved ecosystems. We need to get back to that.”
Leading the Global Economy with Healthy Food
Chiaradio’s vision extends beyond domestic policy. He believes the United States should leverage its agricultural strength to forge better relationships with global powers like China and India. “China is using its manufacturing strength to help raise global living standards. It’s a great thing, and they’ll succeed. America should take the same approach with food. We have the resources to feed the world in a way that’s profitable, sustainable, and mutually beneficial. This isn’t charity, it’s smart strategy.”
As part of this strategy, Chiaradio has long advocated for creative trade deals where the U.S. receives valuable resources — such as minerals or human capital — in exchange for food exports. “Trump was smart to suggest leveraging Ukraine’s mineral wealth, but that’s only scratching the surface of what’s possible,” Chiaradio noted. “We can use food as a tool for diplomacy and economic growth, ensuring America stays competitive for decades to come.”
Chiaradio also sees a direct link between immigration policy and his vision for regenerative agriculture. By pairing strong border security with expanded legal immigration, he believes the U.S. can rebuild its agricultural workforce while maintaining national security.
“We need more legal immigrants to sustain economic growth —especially in farming and food production. The idea that border security and immigration are the same thing is wrong,” he argued. “We can have both. And if we implement a smart, structured immigration system, we’ll create opportunities that benefit our economy.”
A Call for Leadership
With immigration and global strategy at the center of national debates, Chiaradio’s plan is gaining traction. He is challenging outdated policies that have held America back with a forward-thinking approach to soil restoration, food production, and economic expansion.
